Katie and Paul chose Matfen Hall for their incredible wedding day. Matfen Hall is a great setting for a wedding at any time of year but was spectacular for this winter wedding. I loved the giant Christmas tree in the hall, standing proudly by the grandest wooden staircase. Matfen Hall has such Grand rooms
Katie’s dressing room was perfect, I was a big fan of the William Morris style wallpaper. I was an even bigger fan of Katie’s gorgeous lace-backed dress. The jewelled belt and hairpiece really gave her the wow factor at Matfen Hall.
Katie and Paul really embraced the winter theme. With burgundy bridesmaid dresses, rose and berry buttonholes. Not forgetting the spectacular cake adorned with fur cones and frosty leaves. Few things are easier to photograph than a little guy in a suit. Katie and Paul’s son Henry fitted the bill perfectly. He was an angel through the whole service. Daughter, Emily was also paying the angelic card, in a white dress, burgundy sash and flowery hairband. She performed her duties admirably as ring bearer.
Special thanks must go to the bridal party. Who braved the freezing conditions to take advantage of the stunning light, always a hazard of a winter wedding at Matfen Hall.
Doing this job, I see a lot of speeches, but I’m not sure I’ve ever heard one a moving as Paul’s. There was barely a dry eye in the house. While not pulling on the heartstrings in quite the same way. I did enjoy the prop-heavy speeches which followed too. Soon it was time to venture downstairs where the DJ was setting up, ready to play some tunes!
Later on, I managed to get a few minutes with Katie and Paul, to capture some night time images. I set up my off camera flash by the stunning stained glass window. I was able to capture some silhouettes. It is great when couples opt to do some night time pictures. It doesn’t take very long and you end up with some dramatic images which would look great above the mantelpiece.
I had fun capturing the kids hurtling across the dance floor in the evening. I really enjoyed Emily joining mum and dad for the first dance too. Thank you so much, Katie and Paul, for letting me be part of your special day, love Lindsey XxX
