The Parlour at Blagdon is a little-hidden gem, perfect for a rustic style wedding. It has lots of little cute buildings around a central plaza. Michelle and Jay knew straight away that this was the venue for them. I was very lucky to meet Michelle and Jay, it was only by coincidence that Michelle found me. Michelle got ready at a family lodge called ‘Forget Me Not Lodge’. She stumbled upon my website, and due to my business name decided to click on my website. I am so glad she did!

When we met we had so much in common and I felt like I had known this couple for years. Jay is hilarious, plus they also have a very cute King Charles Caviler called Binky, she was a fantastic ring bearer for The Parlour Blagdon.

Here is what Michelle had to say about their wedding at The Parlour At Blagdon:

The Parlour at Blagdon is a beautiful venue. We wanted something with character and the most important part being our Dog Binky could be there. We were very really happy with The Parlour at Blagdon, it lived up to our expectations.
For our wedding, we decided to go for a vintage, shabby chic theme which we carried through for our decorations.
At The parlour at Blagdon, we had a Beautiful 3-course meal which everyone enjoyed and lots of people commented it was very tasty.
For our wedding we picked vows and extra promises from a choice provided my Northumberland registrars. Best bit for us was our dog being the ring bearer.

So, my wedding dress was bespoke handcrafted, as I knew exactly what I wanted. I had a few issues with it being made but felt nice on the day.

What was the funniest part of the day?

Jay would say the speeches! He managed to entertain everyone for a good while!

      Consequently, did anything surprise you?

Yes, my sister in law and chief bridesmaid Angela arranged sparklers for everyone which was lovely and different and made some good photos.

For our first dance, we picked our own song JLS, so it wasn’t too slow and awkward but we enjoyed it and everyone else got up to join us pretty speedily.
If I was to plan my wedding all other again I would have an earlier wedding, as it was far too rushed between wedding breakfast and evening guests arriving. Felt like we didn’t speak to everyone.

To conclude, some words of wisdom from Michelle. I definitely think having an earlier wedding gives you more time to have a chat with your friends and family. If you opt to have lots of formal photographs, which I don’t advise, that can take quite a bit of time! I would rather be chatting to my friends and family.

This was such a fun wedding, they are blissfully happy and made for each other. Thank you for choosing me to photograph your wedding
